Why aren’t ENS domains visible on other rollups/sidechains?

When I first registered mine, I thought I would be able to send money to myname.eth on rollups like Optimism and Arbitrum, as well as sidechains like Polygon. But later I saw it wasn't recognized.

Why is that so? And are there any plans to make ENS global? Or will each chain have its own domain solution like .opti, .arb and .poly?
