In case of a problem during the merge, what will happen to staking?

I was just wondering if there is a problem during the merge and the development team decide to fork (cf ethereum classic). What would happen to staking tokens such as Rocket Pool Ethereum (Reth), lido…

I guess they would go on with the new tokens but not sure about it.
