What is siETH?

I read a post recently about someone increasing their stake before the merge. They referenced buying siETH.

After the merge will each remain? Will there be two different versions of the coin? Should we do anything to optimize holdings?

Can someone please offer an ELI5 about current holdings and holdings after the merge?
