Decentralized Housing — A DAO For Public Good
You pull out your phone …
a few swipes and you're on the home screen.
"Hmm … where do I want to go today?"
A list of locations displays, a network all around the world. Everything is accessible to you … but instead of renting someone else's property … it's your own.
I'm working with a group of Web3 builders to create a decentralized housing network.
Why are we doing this? Airbnb already exists.
The main reason is to convert housing from an expense to a wealth generating activity.
The main difference between the middle class and lower class is wealth accumulation through real estate.
I know a lot of the new age gurus say home ownership is trash — but when you convert from spending $5-1,000 a month on rent to "investing" the same amount each month it adds up quick.
The only reason that rent is expensive is because there is an owner who needs to get paid by providing upfront capital and leveraging their credit.
By creating a decentralized network we can remove these and let anyone convert their rent expense into an investment activity.
How would it work?
Crowdfund capital via and NFT or Token sale.
Leverage capital to purchase / retro fit initial properties.
Members stay at properties and pay "rent"* as they normally would.
As mortgages are paid down, equity can be used to purchase more properties.
"Rent" can be broken down into 3 parts.
Mortgage expense
Maintenance / Insurance / Operational Costs
Profit (for the landowner)
* "Profit" is then redistributed to tenants via an equity token.
Furthermore, this token can become an income producing asset via profit share.**
** How do we generate income if it's being redistributed to tenants.
All housing networks operate at less than 100% capacity. This extra capacity can be sold via web 2 marketplaces (Airbnb / ETC) to generate profit. This profit can then be redistributed to members who stake their equity tokens.

This a complex scenario with a lot of variables. We are just now starting to flush out the idea.
