What could i do with 1 Ether?

If we want to understand the real value of cryptocurrencies, surely we should see what we can do with them. If i can make 5$ lemonade with X amount of lemons and water, then i can calculate the current value of lemons, and from historical data, estimate their real value.

So what would i be able to do with 1 Ether? Would owning 1 Ether provide me with roughly 1000$ worth of value?

(Obviously i'm thinking about things other than staking, making money, etc…)
