Decentralized staking – why is RETH / ETH decreasing?

I recently put some of my ether into decentralized staking. My thought process was that I wasn't going to get rid of my ether anytime soon, so I might as well have some guaranteed returns while I hold ether. But, both of my decentralized staking choices have been decreasing in value relative to ether. How is this possible? These tokens are supposed to receive rewards from validation, and then that reward should increase its value relative to eth. But, the two protocols I used (rocket pool RETH and interest compounding eth ICETH) have both been losing value relative to ETH.

I know that the whole market is crashing, but I still thought that these should do better than ETH. Can anyone explain to me why these tokens would lose value compared to ETH?

RETH / ETH, down 0.3% over the past 180 days

icETH / ETH, down 16% since inception 1.5 months ago
