“Cryptocurrency as an entire concept is a scam and should be forgotten about” Why are we even still hearing this narrative?

We’re now in an era where information and data of all types can be sent to each other freely and easily but not value. When was the last time anyone was able to sell or lend their latest album or game to their mates? When everything was physical and you owned it. In the digital age we should be able to do the same. Blockchain technology enables this to be a thing. Not only that but if that album is resold, in the contract tied to the blockchain, a portion of royalties could go to the original artist, automatically? No wonder there is so much interest in those fields right now.
Sometimes you want to pay for these middlemen to handle a contract rather than a secure digital system (ultimately though most cases you wouldn’t) but when it comes to art or music a smart contract would probably be better right?
There are countless other reasons why taking the bulk of our funds out of the current financial system and rebuilding infrastructure backed on a digital currency that isn’t already owned by them, is a good idea. Why do we trust holding the money with the banks to invest where they decide?
With the design of some cryptocurrency infrastructures the people who hold their money in that system get to vote and decide where it’s invested, isn’t that pretty amazingly clever? The votes are locked into a blockchain so it can be hidden information but totally verifiable. It could be used in modern voting and international ID systems and it would be more secure than what we have currently, people are working on these things
The current system isn’t fair or even the best we can do in the 21st century, it can be much cheaper and more environmentally friendly than the current banking system too. Not having to run it through their pockets before they can spit someone else’s funds into your pocket at the other register, bank money is the true blood money, but we can exchange value for time and commodities right now in a better way and more directly. If there was a moderate amount more interest from our government to regulate and tax it (in a fair way that’s in line with how they interact with the banks)
Somehow the powers that be in the media seem biased against it, for whatever reasons, they look at cryptocurrency as a whole and not how individual currencies are being innovated to a much better standard, leaving behind the archaic, expensive, pyramid scheme current banking system that we’re born and die in, over and over. The cards are all in their hands and what do they invest it in? Look at the world…
Yes there is work to be done and yes we need to update our governments to incorporate, regulate and tax but also make better systems for adoption and exchange, then we can see how much money we can tax from a system that doesn’t run through the banks purse first. I think in the future, once companies and people learn they can exchange more freely using cryptocurrency they will use it more also.
I am pretty high, would love to read what your thoughts are on this
