Wanting to shift to a Ledger Nano S+ to resist sell

I had a very hard time HODLing past few weeks. But I managed. I bought a Ledger Nano S +. Before I move my coins to the offline storage, do I need to wait for the ETH upgrade? Is it going to affect BTC? Is it going to effect other ETH based coins?
