Is ethereum 2.0 still ethereum, for purchases to be made?

I have most of my eth in 2.0, but retailer sites only accept eth (first gen). I keep asking around, retailrs, subreddits, no one is providing me an answer. So, now I am asking you guys. Sites like newegg accept ethereum cryptocurrency. If ethereum 2.0 is the same as ethereum, but on a new blockchain, can I still use this to make purchases on sites that only accept the first gen of ethereum? Or do I have to convert it back to its first gen?
