Will the difficulty bomb be removed after the Merge?

I’m still learning more about Ethereum, and my understanding is the difficulty bomb is there to force miners to switch to POS after the Merge. While it may be necessary for a quick transition, I also kinda feel like in someway it takes a little away from the decentralization aspect. Will there still be a difficulty bomb after the Merge?
