Why rush for PoS if the most important scaling solutions are already available?

Seems like everyone is crazy for the merge, but we're not gonna gain much from it in the short term. We will get to say "hey, we are green now, no miners!", but I doubt that'll make even one crypto hater change his opinion about us.
