When these major crypto projects take on VC capital well after launch, how does that work?

For example, Polygon, just raised if I remember right, 400 Million from a VC. This is interesting to me because most of the companies take on VCs prior to public launch, when it's after, how does that work?

Does it come out of the reserve pool?

Do the VCs get a lower than market price?

Is there some form of vesting schedule on these tokens issued?
