Help me understand Web3 Social Media

So afaik, to interact with content on a Web3 social media you'd have to basically spend money on tokens to be able to do anything.

vs. Facebook/Instagram yes you "pay" with your privacy data, but you don't actually have to spend actual money to consume/engage with content.

Help me understand why would consumers spend money to use social media? This won't be successful at all
