So I was browsing coinmarketcap and noticed in the token chat for BAT this message: Notice that the link looks like it is coinmarketcap but isn't. When you visit the website it kind of looks legit at first glance but it quickly falls apart. The rules state that you have to send Eth to receive Eth… The online chat has a bunch of randomly generated users. The page has a counter that is supposed to indicate how much Ether is left but if you reopen the page in a private window it resets to 300K. Surely, no one would fall for this. Right? Wrong! If you check out the address on etherscan it turns out over 37 Ether has been sent there over the past 12 hours with a value of about $100K. It really surprised me that this many people would fall for this scam. Please, be skeptical when it comes to crypto. It is the wild west out there, don't get robbed. submitted by /u/ImpliedStupidity |
