Cryptocurrency is approaching a phase of massive adoption

Lots of chatter going on about advertising and marketing at the moment, with quite a lot of disbelief about whether we'll see new users come on board. Let's remember where we are with respect to the technology adoption cycle. We are still in the "early adopters" stage, but things are ramping up massively – 70% of holders only got into crypto last year. Obviously the excitement of the bull run probably contributed to that, but savvy investors will recognize that now is an excellent time to jump in.
Here's a great article that lays this out in more detail: Medium article
Marketing, institutional adoption and word of mouth all contribute to raising awareness and bringing the "early majority" on board. I see so much complaining about ads, and yet all of this marketing, regardless of whether you like the project behind it or not, will help adoption and grow the sector.
One big challenge is "the chasm", which is a critical point in the technology adoption curve where technologies sometimes fail or stall because they are not usable or approachable to this "early majority". People get excited by the hype but then get overwhelmed by the technical aspects, or aren't mentally ready to deal with the volatility, and they become frustrated. This is called the trough of disillusionment. Projects need to plan how to help these users, and design marketing and educational content that guides people and helps them along their crypto journey.
