Is there a collection of credible academic papers around gas costs and scalability of blockchains? How hardware requirements relate to security would also interest me.

I am looking for the basic papers on these things. I thought there might be a list or something somewhere. It's been a while since I've been at uni so I don't fully remember how to find the relevant stuff on google scholar.
