Which wallet is best?

I recently invested about $85 to buy ETH. When i transferred it to my metamask to purchase an NFT, I was only left with $25 worth of ETH due to fees. Is metamask the best wallet to transfer to? because I lost a lot of money just to transfer it. What are the best options?
