Kawpow efficiency VS. Ethash

Been mining for the past year exclusively on RVN. I've always heard that Kawpow runs hot. But recently switched to Ethash on Nicehash (Eww I know) for a bit while the RVN network evens out. I'm trying to figure something out. On Kawpow with Trex, my core clocks are consistently lower and not able to stay boosted. All the while being 3-4C hotter compared to Ethash on NBminer with the same power draw and higher clocks. ~34/mh on Kawpow and ~72/mh on Ethash which seems a little low on the Kawpow side considering it's usually half Ethash's rate.

So is that completely normal from other people's experience? I seem to be able to push my hardware and get alot more out of it on Ethash all the while having lower temps.

Maybe it's just my hardware? Currently running an old gutted 1070 laptop and a 3070 laptop I mine on when not doing anything intense for work. Batteries/charging are disabled on them to not have the fire/swelling hazard. And temps stay around 70C for both. idk, just curios to hear other peoples experience and see some technical specs.
