If ETC folds, will it be absorbed by ETH?

I invested in ETC, as a noob, per advice from someone who informed me that if ETC ever "calls it quits", it will become ETH. Seemed like a no brainer, at the time. I am currently questioning my decision to hold ETC, but would like confirmation about what I was told, before making any moves. I've searched for some time, and I'm finding nothing. I asked on the ETC page and haven't received a single response! Lol! That may be the answer I'm looking for right there! TIA
