Using MACD to hold off on buying

What are your thoughts on using the MACD indicator to determine when to buy ETH or not? I’ve always used MACD but it’s been so helpful lately. Didn’t give in to the hype and held off on buying since the MACD showed it would keep dipping. Thoughts? At this rate, we’re looking at ETH dropping to below 3,000.
