It’s mid 2016. I’m on a verge of divorce, my father has passed away 2 years prior. I have zero knowledge regarding finances. Investing? What’s that? Stock market? That’s for the rich. Inflation? Who cares… The goal? Wake up, Work 3 jobs, save worthless fiat, eat, shit, shower, sleep, repeat. Basically live “the outside world” life like that one fish from SpongeBob.

January 1, 2017 after celebrating New Years with family, I go to my friends house, to continue the celebration with my homies. We drank, we joked, we enjoyed each other’s company. It’s 04:00am I’m drunk AF. We sitting on the couch on our phones. My mind is filled with all the depressing shit I’m going through and then it happened… “Yo, fellas, have you heard about this shit called Bitcoin?” Says my friend. “Bitcoin? What’s that?” I reply. “It’s some internet money my business partner told me about, there’s a whole market for it. Download Coinbase from the App Store and you can buy some, it has gone up from practically nothing to now nine hundred dollars.”

So I download the app make an account and begin my research. What’s Ethereum (ETH)? What’s XRP? Lite coin? What are these things. I dive in to the rabbit hole, head first like a fetus. “Bitcoin is nine hundred dollars… too expensive, it will probably go up to one thousand and stay there”(yes my dumb ass thought that) “ETH on the other hand is eight dollars and maybe it will go up to one thousand like bitcoin”. On January 2017 @04:21 ( yes I missed it by one minute) I have made my first ever purchase of ETH.

As the year went by I saw my money grow and double, then triple, I began to gain more and more interest. “What? My money can grow like that? I can make more money just by sitting on my ass instead of working 3 jobs? Is this what investing is? Wow! I began to do more research to understand blockchain and Crypto. I became obsessed with learning about investing and gaining financial knowledge. Then came the 2017 bull run and the ICO crazy. I purchased more and more ETH, BTC and a bunch more other cryptos. I was that guy from the “when you discover alt-coins for the first time” meme.

My portfolio grew to numbers I would only dream of. I couldn’t believe how easy it was to make your money work for you. I continued my journey into the world of crypto and blockchain technology. I was amazed. I understood that this was the future, that this was an opportunity of a lifetime. I set goals to cash out a decent amount at a specific number. Unfortunately that number never came and… Then…came the crash of 2018 followed by the bear winter.

My portfolio dropped dramatically, all my gains vanished right before my eyes. It was like divorce 2.0. I couldn’t believe it. How do people sell something that is so revolutionary? At first I doubted my self, my decision and my intuition, but then I came to a realization that people are not ready and still don’t truly don’t understand what this innovation is. I decided to double down.

Throughout 2018 I continued to accumulate and DCA into BTC and ETH. I never lost hope or belief in this market. I felt that it was just ahead of its time. I knew that as soon as people realize what this technology is there is no way it won’t explode.

Then came the crash of 2020. This was my chance to stack as much sats as I possibly can. I remember telling every person I knew to buy during the march 2020 crash. Unfortunately not many listened to me and called me crazy.

Well Bitches who’s crazy now?

Till this day I DCA and stack sats. I went down the rabbit hole and realized there’s no going back! Fuck fiat, fuck the government and fuck inflation. The only thing that keeps me going in this shitty life we all live in is crypto. It gives me hope. Bitcoin and crypto have changed my life forever. I am forever grateful. If it wasn’t for Bitcoin I would never be financially educated.

TL/DR: I learned about Bitcoin and crypto in 2017 and it forever changed my life.
