German Sparkassen are preparing a crypto service for 50 million customers.

The source is german but the tldr is the Sparkassen want to start a service for crypto currencies in 2022. This means that 50 million customers could potentially enter the crypto market.

"The secret crypto project is located within the extensive savings bank sector where the Apple Pay projects were once worked out. Namely: at the “Deutsche Sparkassenverlag” – or more precisely: at their most important division, S-Payment, a group-owned service provider that is supposed to not only, but primarily, develop and provide payment transaction solutions for the individual savings banks."
