Layer 2 security on Ethereum vs. Bitcoin

A lot of people have been complaining about Bitcoin's Lightning Network or other L2 solutions on Bitcoin for being too centralized/lacking in security. Why do I not hear that argument from people on Ethereum Layer 2's? What is the fundamental difference between how they work on BTC vs. ETH?
