Is holding Ethereum still ok?

Everyone is talking about L2 as an innovation for Ethereum. So, when L2 becomes mainstream, will the Ethereum I'm holding become less valuable because it's only L1? Sorry if this is a super basic question, I'm still trying to learn the basics of crypto. Thank you 🙂
