Cancel transaction question

So I was using metamask to delegate my matic tokens to a node for staking. Two of the attempts timed out after 750 seconds it seemed so I resubmitted the transactions. I thought the transactions would be “failed” but they are still in my queue even after successfully staking on another attempt. I get you have to pay transaction fees for computations on the block but is there anyway to cancel a failed transaction?
