ENS airdrop

I just need some help understanding. I don't have an ENS domain yet but if I make one now can i get the airdrop? It says "the distribution is based on the total time of an addrese's past registration and future registration as of Oct. 31 2021". Just a little confused. I don't wana waste money and time to make an ens domain if i am not going to get an airdrop. Am i too late? Or can i make one now and still get some ens coins from the airdrop?
