Is Solana a threat to Ethereum?

I've researched old threads and not satisfied with my level of knowledge comparing the two yet.

Solana has a 75 billion cap now. That's no joke.

Scaling (sharding) for base layer Eth looks like it's about a year away.

Layer 2 Eth options are confusing for non-technical people. How / when will L2 solutions become mainstream?

Solana will continue to upgrade and improve itself too, right?

Because of all of this… is Solana somewhat of a threat to Ethereum?

Or in the coming months and years will Ethereum basically make Solana mostly irrelevant?

I heard in the future Solana could become an Eth rollup?

Any thoughts on comparing the two would be appreciated. Where will each of them be in comparison to each other in the coming years?
