is there any advantage to using a smaller mining pool?

so a few days ago i commented on a post and one of the people there saud since i am mining in a pool i shouldnt use 2miners and instead i should took for a smaller pool that has less than 10% of the network hashrate but i wanted to know if there was any advantage to switching because unless there was an advantage i dont wanna mess with it
