Wallet spam prevention

Hey all, only been here for like a year so I wasn't around for any serious DoS attacks against the network (I don't think). I saw that one of the attacks used in the past was that somebody would create a bunch of wallets to fill up the blockchain. What's preventing people from doing this nowadays?
