How do companies make money from decentralized websites?

Do companies make money from decentralized websites? and if so, then how is it "decentralized" if there's a central company that people pay money for to use the service?

I think of "decentralized" as something like a freelancing platform where the relationship is between client and freelancer only and there's no middleman like a company that takes a fee from the contract.
