Ethereum gas fee policy is like highway robbery

If you don’t set the right amount of gas, your tx will fail, and the gas fee will still be taken from you and burned. The problem is nobody is able to tell you exactly how much gas is required for each transaction type. How is this different from dealing with a thug? There is always a real chance that your money will be taken, and you will get nothing back.
