Ethereum Gas Limits Question

Hi, I'm hoping someone can give me a good explanation/link to a resource that covers what the gas limit is for different type of smart contracts. I've recently been trying to bridge an asset to Algorand and the transaction is quite expensive which prompted me to look into gas limits but I haven't been able to find useful information or a breakdown of what each type of transaction costs in gas.
