Question – Is ethereum 2.0 a PoS?

Hey,

wanted to know if Eth2.0 is already operational, and if it is Proof of Stake

if i understand correctly, in PoS mining does not consume high electricity and use GPUs, it's based on the staking which are made by the users of the network, right?
