Why did this happen?

I have a wallet on BRD (mobile wallet) and bought 150 dollars worth of ethereum (163 with fees) which amounted to about 0.048. But when i got the coins the app said that i had paid 140 for that amount of ethereum (0.048). I am new to crypto so im assuming that there is some kind of explanation like hidden fees. Is this the case?
