Choice of miner software.

Just out of curiosity, I had been using Gminer for a good while yet it seems like the majority of people are suggesting to use Trex. What are the differences and do they really seem to matter. It seems like overclocks I had been using that did not cause the miner to restart cause it more often using Trex. Any and all help is appreciated.
