Lightning with Ethereum

I used to be 30/70 in ETH/BTC, but since I built my own Lightning node, I went all in on Bitcoin. I think LN will completely change the game in the near future. It could make Bitcoin scale enough to make it an actual payment network.

But I am wondering, would forking the LND code to make it run on ETH not be very easy as well? I.e. can the Lightning network run on Ethereum? Would it make any sense? Would it still make sense on ETH2.0?
