Taxes on spending crypto

So coinbase has a debit card. I can spend my ethereum with my coinbase debit card. Lets say i buy a couch on overstock with ethereum. Do i have to pay taxes on spending my ethereum?

My motive behind this question is how do i spend my ethereum without having to pay capital gains on it?
