Dapp ecosystem

Sorry if a dumb question- tried researching and can’t find great answers. How do dapps add to the value of ethereum. Does dapp usage itself burn ether therefore reducing supply? Or is it just that people need ether to interact with dapps and therefore demand for ether is higher? Is there a way to gauge the net monetary benefit? I.e. how much ether has been burned through dapp interaction.
