first time miner question about wallet

So I was going to try mining out, never did it before. I know the first thing to do is get a wallet. From what I was reading everyone saying don't trust exodus or atomic, so I downloaded the raven core client, but so far it has been 12 hours synchronizing and still only up to 39%, and says 3 weeks left. Is this normal to take this long? Is it really worth it that much for one wallet?

Any suggestions to fix this? I am thinking of just going exodus so I at least can try it out to see if mining is something for me.
