Do I have to pay taxes on the crpyto I mined that I am just holding?

I haven't converted any crpyto to fiat but regardless do I still have to pay taxes on the crypto sitting in my wallet? I kinda just figured if I don't convert to fiat I don't have to report until I do but I think I'm actually way wrong after reading an article about it. Though it didn't specifically state anything about crypto you mined that is not converted to fiat.
