Hands up if you hate the tribalism culture in crypto – let’s debate the common downsides to some of the top crypto and talk about why they MAY not be huge issues

I want to promote a healthy discussion where everything isn’t 100% the best or 0% the worst.

So I’ll kick off with Bitcoin – the common knock on it is that there is “no utility” and “environment impact is poor” etc etc.

(I am not a Bitcoin investor FYI) but my rebuttal to that would be:

  1. a store of value is utility in and of itself. If there’s a critical mass of holders at a certain value on a finite resource (as there is with gold for instance) whilst there may be short term price volatility the lack of utility won’t result in a rug pull. That’s my opinion anyway

  2. Yes, this one is hard to ignore, and it needs to get better. My only real thoughts on this is that we NEED an easy concept for non-crypto people to be moved into the market. If people then do their own research they will see the plethora of great utilitarian and environmentally efficient currencies out there.

What are your rebuttals for Bitcoin / other currencies?
