Weekly Mining Megathread – Read FAQs, confirm your hashrate/OC and get advice here!

This is a new weekly post for everyone to ask simple mining questions and get answers from the Ravencoin mining community. Below are some frequently asked questions that might already answer your question, so please quickly read through them first.

Note: this isn't designed to replace general mining discussion on the subreddit. Rather, it is intended for people who have small questions or doubts about mining to get answers as well as provide useful resources and links to get started.

If you're completely new to mining and are looking to get started, please check out this great guide on how to get started mining. It outlines what wallet, pool and mining software to use to mine RVN.

FAQs

Q: "What pool/wallet/miner should I use?"

A: Check out this guide here for a nice list of where to get started.

Q: "Is mining Ravencoin profitable for my card?"

A: More than likely, yes. Ravencoin can be mined with most cards, even ones with 4GB of memory (even 3GB cards on Linux). Go to What To Mine and select your card there to see expected earnings. (Please note, your card might not be on that website but that doesn't mean it isn't profitable or supported. Instead, have a look at a similar powered card to get a rough idea of the profitability.)

Q: "Is my hashrate ok?"

A: Check out this post and see if your card is listed :).

Q: "Can I mine another coin (e.g. ETH) and get paid in RVN?"

A: Yes, good choices are MiningPoolHub, Unmineable, Zergpool or something similar. These are mining auto-exchanges, meaning you can mine one coin and get paid in another.

Q: "Is it better to mine RVN directly rather than using an auto-exchange?"

A: By mining RVN you are strengthening the network, you are the bedrock of the entire project. If you want to help the network, and don't mind potentially earning less than mining ETH and converting it to RVN, then mining directly is the best move.
