Ravencoin relies on PoW because….
it turns blocks into hidden vaults.
When you go check what blocks were found, you will notice a sequence of zeros. These zeros indicate how hard it was to solve a mathematical problem to complete this block. The transcations and assets inside are verified and secured.
The countpart in real-life would be to think of how to hide your verified coins in such a way that they are very hard to find. In a sense this is also a problem you will have to solve.
PoW is rigid consensus and this is exaclty what we need to secure valuable assets which are very expensive.
Miners are hardworkers and I am sure no one can compare stakes to hard-work even remotely.
RVN + PoS would be a failure. PoW is battle-tested.
And there is another thing:
Why is Ethereum one tier lower?
The answer is that RVN is fully asset-aware (burns RVN to create verified assets) whereas ETH uses smart-contracts but that does not make it aware of assets + high GAS fees. RVN has eliminated the need for smart contracts entirely.
Andrew Hecht (and that man is no moron) himself knows how powerful RVN is. It is a top-tier blockchain and many deniers will witness what this beast is capable of.
Now on to Algorand: it uses smart-contracts as well and focuses on creating apps to run on top of the blockchain.
Is Algo comparable to RVN? No. One uses PoS and the other relies on PoW. I am not saying that Algo is bad but you cannot compare these two even remotely.
