Discussion on Etherum by Vitalik Buterin – TechCrunch – Disrupt 2017

I stumbled across this youtube video recently, and I invite you all to watch it. It really opens you upto some concepts of blockchain / Etherum that you might know, but not understand.

Some of the things that I found very interesting:

"Blockchain is a decentralized system that has some kind of a shared memory"

"A good blockchain application is one that a. needs decentralization b. needs some kind of shared memory"

Bitcoin => Protocol in service of the currency; Etherum => Currency in service of the protocol

Crypto Currencies is a natural transition of trust: In God we trust -> In nation we trust -> In math we trust, An this theory ultimately disrupts traditional power structures.

The last point I found to be very interesting, China's recent crackdown into cryptocurrency is just retaliation against this disruption. It's just beautiful that we continue to grow
