Why do dips happen so fast?

Is it like people who hold huge amounts just dumping it or what i cant figure it out. Itll drop 100 bucks or more in a minute sometimes. I just dont understand why it happens so fast. The recoverys happen but typically not nearly as fast it seems. Ive noticed this with btc and matic also.
