Will Ethereum v2 be faster and lower mining fees?

I want to be more invested in Ethereum however I see the current hurdles to overcome as the speed of transactions and the high cost of transferring/completing NFT purchases etc. The site on v2 seems to indicate this will get better but I’m not certain I’ve understood the details correctly.

My question(s) to the community is – will the speed of transactions be faster and if so by how much? Additionally will v2 lower fees that we pay to transfer Ethereum/pay for NFTs and if so by how much?
