What gives Ethereum intrinsic value?

How does Ethereum hold value. It has no uses for anything. It cannot be eaten, it doesn't look beautiful in a way that cannot be duplicated digitally in some other medium.

A dollar doesn't either, but a dollar is enforced by the military and policy force of the US via forcing oil to be traded in US dollars. I.e. demand is artificially produced by force. But no demand force is present in Ethereum because nobody has control over it and therefore nobody has the motivation to enforce it.
