Crypto Facts you Probably Didn`t know!

Sometimes when I`m looking to increase my crypto knowledge for making my posts I come across pretty cool pieces of information regarding crypto. I think it is a nice distraction from the flood of Dogecoin & Elon posts. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
- Lamborghini was the first car company that accepted the use of bitcoins! Maybe this is where the term 'When Lambo' comes from?
- The term HODL originated from a forum post in 2013 written by Gamekyuubi. This user, clearly intoxicated, titled his post “I AM HODLING.” He meant to title his piece “I am holding,” and this was far from the only spelling error in his post.
- The amount of energy consumed by bitcoin is more than the energy that is required to power all the UK tea kettles for 19 years.
- May 22nd is celebrated as Bitcoin Pizza Day. On May 22, 2010, a programmer from Florida, named Laszlo Hanyecz, successfully traded 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John’s Pizzas. That was the first purchase done ever by using Bitcoins. At that time that amount was worth around 41$.

A few years ago, the FBI shut down the Silk Road which was a big black market website where Bitcoin was frequently used to make different purchases. FBI acquired all the Bitcoins that were circulating around the website, which is around 1.5% of all the world’s Bitcoin.

In 2017, this startup raised, have a seat if you’re standing before you continue reading, an incredible $257m! They collected the first $200m in just 30 minutes, believe it or not. Now, that’s a record that could be hard to beat!
- There are over 2 billion unbanked people in the world. Crypto could be a great help to these people.
- First bitcoin faucet gave away 5 bitcoin per user. It may be shocking, but it was so in 2010. The creator of website, where a user could collect free bitcoins is Gavin Andersen. Each of users received 5 Bitcoins. The purpose of this game was to promote cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin itself, because back then, it was not as popular as it is now.
- If you were able to make a trillion guesses per second, you’d have to guess for about 3.3 decillion years to find the private key to a particular Bitcoin address.
- The Honey Badger is bitcoin`s unofficial animal mascot. Honey badgers are renowned for their toughness. The creatures are able to withstand terrible injuries, bee attacks, and bites from poisonous snakes. This resilient animal seemed like a good fit for Bitcoin, which has survived all kinds of attacks over the years.
