Can someone please explain yield farming as if I were a 5 year old?

I just don't understand it. What tokens are best suited for it? How profitable is it currently? What are the potential profits? If I have 100 ethereum, what sort of profits would I expect? Is this passive income or must I have to keep an eye on it actively? What risks are involved? Thanks for you time & attention.
