Wallet Test

So I downloaded the Raven Core wallet, synced with block, sent a test transaction and all looks good. Now what I need to iron out is recovering future amounts from the wallet (it's on my PC) should anything happen to the computer. I have my 12 word seed phrase.

By storing it in this wallet, do I now own the keys? I want to move my RVN off Binance cuz reasons. I want max security and control, but I'm still learning as I'm new to crypto.

Is there any other precaution I need to take? Should I get a hardware wallet like a Ledger Nano or Trezor?
